SALEM — Plan ahead! Oregon DMV is alerting customers that all self-service options will be offline due to a system upgrade from July 3 through July 5. This includes\u00a0DMV2U\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0DMV Express Kiosks<\/a>.\u00a0All\u00a0DMV offices\u00a0will be\u00a0closed on\u00a0July 3 for the Fourth of July holiday.

\u201cOur computer system requires regular upgrades to maintain and improve our service to customers,\u201d\u202fOregon DMV Administrator Amy Joyce said. \u201cWe understand this will be an inconvenience, which is why we\u2019re letting folks know early so they can plan on completing necessary transactions ahead of the transition weekend. \u201d

DMV\u2019s Oregon License Issuance and Vehicle Registration (OLIVR) system went live in January 2019, replacing a 50-year-old\u00a0computer\u00a0system. The technology made DMV much more efficient\u00a0and introduced\u00a0DMV2U, offering\u00a0several online self-service options for customers and business partners.

Today, DMV2U offers more than 30 online transactions, saving customers a trip to a DMV office and freeing up appointment times for those who must complete their service inside an office.\u00a0DMV Express Kiosks\u00a0were introduced in 2025, bringing 10 machines to\u00a0Fred Meyer\u00a0stores\u00a0from Portland to Medford\u00a0and\u00a0in\u00a0Bend.\u00a0The kiosks allow you to\u00a0renew, replace\u00a0and print\u00a0your vehicle registration card and stickers,\u00a0as well as\u00a0print a copy\u00a0of your\u00a0vehicle registration.\u00a0Kiosks are available\u00a0seven days a week during the stores\u2019\u00a0operating hours.

The\u00a0OLIVR upgrade\u00a0will help keep\u00a0DMV\u2019s\u00a0software current, ensuring we\u00a0can integrate with partner systems and making\u00a0it easier to adopt future updates\u00a0as they become available, better serving our customers.
