TRANSPORTATION FUNDING ON THE HOT SEAT AT THE CAPITOL IN SALEM

Democratic Legislative Leadership for the first time this year released their framework for new taxes and increases in current taxes for  ODOT spending. Republican leadership quickly denounced the plan as too many new and increases taxes, and too little accountability.

The frame work (and press release) are attached, along with an infographic of all the Democratic-sponsored transportation taxes this session (not all of them are in the TRIP package).

Dealers are encouraged to contact their state senator and state representative by phone or email to express your opinion. You can find out who represents you by clicking here.

The Oregonian/Oregonlive has issued an editorial expressing concerns about the transportation taxing plan. You can read it here. They are not the only group expressing concerns about the plan. Read the OregonBusinessReport assessment here.

According to our lobbyist, Darrell Fuller, “this year, the question is not if Democrats will increase transportation taxes, but by how much. Now is the time to start letting the people you elected know what you think of their proposals. Let them know what you think.”
